Hello Mr. Alberth, it's been a while, Sir.

But it's been great for me, though. Thanks for asking.

Now, would you excuse me, please.. I beg your pardon that I will need to use a bit of space in this thread, to post something regarding my sharing in previouse page.

    Thanks. :-)

    From previouse page...

    FAJAR882 tulis:

However, considering the very first verse of The Book of Job, we know that Job "was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil." (Job.1:1). Even God Himself, proclaim it in verse 8: "Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?”" (Job.1:8) - we know for sure that Job's suffering, the calamity that befell him, from the disaster to follow, was not the result of his mistakes, and was not something he deserved.

It was God permission to Satan's attack, to run some kind of test answering Satan's challenge.

Why would a good God allow suffering?

Why just in order to run a test, God allows His beloved ones to suffer?

    Share your thoughts! O:)

Why Would a Good God Allow Suffering?

Actually, I was thinking about a small book I've read many years ago. It's titled just the same sentence as that question: "Why Would a Good God Allow Suffering?". Written by Martin R. De Haan II, from RBC Ministries.

An E-book version of that book (in PDF format) is available for free download, here: web001.rbc.org/pdf/discovery-s ... w-suffering.pdf

Here is a brief summary of the book content.

The basic anwers of the Bible are that our God allows pain and suffering in our world:

    • to alert us - to the problem of sin
    • to direct us - to respond to Him in faith and hope
    • to shape us - to be more like Christ
    • to unite us - so that we will help each other

So, rather than I post it in here, which will be a very long posting, it would be a lot better for you to download and read the book yourself, wouldn't it? :-)

Feel free to discuss it in here, or anywhere else.

I will close my sharing with a song. This is one of my favourite song: "All That I Need is You," by Amy Grant. (A Youtube Video, and the lyric is down below.)

Alright. Final words for this sharing. Let's think about this: "Have you ever wanting anything, when you are completely in God's present?"

For God, and for Him only be all the glory. All by His grace. O:) Amen.

"All That I Need is You" (by Amy Grant)

Lord, you know it's been a busy day
And I'm just weary to my bones
    I hope you'll understand if I don't pray
But I need my rest to carry on

Why do I kid myself? You see my heart --
The me I try so to ignore
And Lord, you see how very weak I am
I just can't hide it anymore

But all of a sudden I knew
That I'd never be wanting as long as I'm leaning on you
Oh, Lord. All that I need is you

    Everytime when the doubting comes
    And I seem to lose my way;
    When I cry within
    'Cause I need a friend
    But I just don't say --
You know that I need you --
    All at once it's clear
    Even though you're here
I've tried to make it on my own
    I'm not trusting you

    Oh, Lord, you know
That I really need our time together?
Only your strength can see me through
    So talk with me now
As you walk with me now
    In this quiet time
    I'm waiting on you

'Cause all of a sudden I knew
That I'd never be wanting as long as I'm leaning on you
Oh, Lord. All that I need is you

'Cause all of a sudden I knew (I knew)
That I'd never be wanting as long as I'm leaning on you
Oh, Lord. All that I need is you
    All that I need
All that I need is you!
    Is you!
    Is you!

    Yes. That's right, my bro.

We can learn a lot from those three books of wisdom in The Old Testament (Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Job) to look for the answer of the question: "Why would a good God allow suffering."

While on the other hand, in the New Testament, we find a prayer taught by Jesus Himself, "The Lord's Prayer" (known as "abun d'bashmayo" in Syriac chant). Such a prayer that teaches us not to be freed from suffering, but to be given the strength to live our life, whatever difficulties it may bring to us instead.

The Lord never promise that our sky will always bright and blue, but He promise that He will always be with us, and give us the courage and strength we need, so that we are enabled to bear any storm that He permit to happen in our life. And to witness the beauty of the rainbow at the end of every storms.
